I think you should tell him.
I remember once when I worked at U of M and I was in an elevator with a doctor who's zipper was down. I had 5 seconds to decide if I would tell her or not. I decided to tell her and she was so thankful because she was going to give a speech in front of 50 other doctors.
Now how can you say your my friend and not let me know that I got two Oyester crackers on my nose and let me walk around all day like that. I hope you told him Sharon.
